Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty

Who would consider eyelid surgery?

A Blepharoplasty is a procedure offered to people who have excess skin and fat on their upper or lower eyelid. A person’s droopy eyelids may make them look tired, appear older then they are, or in severe cases it may interfere with vision.

What does a Blepharoplasty involve?

The excess skin from the eyelids are removed. Underlying fat may be removed or redistributed in order to correct the appearance of the eyelid bags. The scars are well disguised in the natural lines along the eyelids.

What results can I expect following Blepharoplasty?

Initial bruising and swelling usually settles within 2 weeks in upper eyelid surgery. With lower eyelid surgery it may take up to 3 weeks to settle. Strenuous activity should be avoided for 6 weeks. The scars usually settle very well over time.

The end result following blepharoplasty is an improvement in the shape and appearance of the eyelids. People may appear less tired, rejuvenated and in cases may also report a wider visual field.
