Maxillofacial Surgery

Maxillofacial Surgery / Facial Trauma Surgery

Trauma may result in fractures of the facial bones and injuries to the soft tissue of the face.

Maxillofacial Surgery involves surgery on the bony skeleton of the face as well as repairing associated soft tissue injuries. Facial fractures may permanently affect a person’s appearance, and in severe cases it may affect the function of breathing, vision or jaw movements.

Facial fracture surgery aims to restore the position of the facial bones, repair soft tissue injuries and prevent cosmetic or functional problems.

At your consultation, Dr Pyragius will assess whether or not surgery is required. He will also discuss what the surgery involves and explain the potential complications and risks.
