Breast Augmentation Mammoplasty

Breast Augmentation Mammoplasty / Breast Implants

Who would consider a Breast Augmentation Mammoplasty?

  • Women who would like to establish an increased breast size in proportion to their body shape
  • Women who have lost breast volume following pregnancy or simply due to aging and would like to reestablish an increased breast size
  • Women who have uneven or asymmetrical breast sizes

What does a breast augmentation mammoplasty procedure involve?

Breast augmentation mammoplasty involves the placement of silicone implants under the breasts or chest muscles to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts.

The size, shape, and position of the breast implants will depend on your preference and your body shape. Dr Pyragius will guide you on which options are suitable for you. The implants are usually placed through an incision which is well hidden in the lower breast crease.

What implants are available?

There is a wide range of cohesive silicone gel implants available for you to choose from depending on your desired results. These include round, anatomical (tear drop), textured and smooth styles. Dr Pyragius will help you choose the most suitable implant for you.

What results can I expect?

Initially bruising, swelling, tenderness and breast firmness may be experienced, but this usually settles after a few weeks. Numbness or increased feeling may initially occur, but this also usually settles.

Your breasts will take a few months to settle and achieve your final result. The scar underneath the breast usually fades within 6-12 months, though scarring outcomes can vary.

In a very small percentage of patients, a scar capsule may form as a reaction to the implant and result in firmness or distortion of the breast. Dr Pyragius will work to correct these problems if they occur. There is also a small risk of implant rupture over time.

The potential complications and risks of breast augmentation mammoplasty surgery will be discussed in detail with you at your consultation with Dr Pyragius.
