Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that is considered by people who are dissatisfied with the shape and appearance of their nose. A person may want to reshape their nose. Some people may also have associated breathing difficulties that they would like improved.
Rhinoplasty surgery is usually performed through a small incision underneath the nose tip, and on the inside of the nostrils. The nasal bones and cartilage framework are then altered.
The aim is to adjust the size, shape, and proportion of your nose. After surgery you will have a nasal splint that remains on for the first week. Initial bruising and swelling should settle within 2-3 weeks. Mild swelling may persist for longer. Most people return to normal activities after 2-3 weeks. The final result may take several months to be achieved.
The potential complications and risks of rhinoplasty surgery will be discussed with you in detail at your consultation with Dr Pyragius.
